Hey, Overachievers!
Your calendar is packed, your phone never stops, and caffeine is basically a food group. Whether you're scaling a business, climbing the corporate ladder, or running a household like a CEO — the hustle is real. And it comes at a cost.
But lately, does it feel like your brain has gone AWOL?
Maybe you’re staring at your screen, and the words just aren't clicking. Maybe that sharp, executive decision-making that used to be your superpower has been replaced by a "foggy monster" that makes choosing lunch feel like a Herculean task.
When chronic stress hits you, it doesn't just make you tired. It straight-up tanks your cellular energy. You aren't just "burnt out"; your biological batteries are actually running on empty.

That’s where NAD+ therapy comes in. It’s been buzzing around the biohacking circles of Silicon Valley (and beyond) for a while now, often touted as a "brain reset."
But does it actually work, or is it just another wellness trend?
Let’s dive into the science and how we approach this at Solshine Wellness Group: NAD+ is typically prescribed as a subcutaneous (SQ) injection for an efficient, busy-professional-friendly reset.
The Seattle Hustle: When Coffee Isn't Enough
We love our coffee here. It’s the fuel of the Pacific Northwest. But coffee is a loan, not a gift. It borrows energy from your future self, and eventually, the debt comes due.
For high-performing professionals, chronic stress keeps the body in a constant "fight or flight" mode. This state is incredibly expensive for your cells. It consumes a coenzyme called NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) at an alarming rate.
When your NAD+ levels drop, your mitochondria: the tiny power plants inside your cells: start to sputter. Think of it like trying to run the latest MacBook software on a battery from 2005. It’s going to lag, overheat, and eventually shut down.

If you find yourself lying awake at 2 AM (like the person in the image above), worrying about Q4 projections or team dynamics, you’re experiencing the intersection of mental load and biological depletion. This is exactly where we start our "detective work" at Solshine.
What on Earth is NAD+ Anyway?
To put it simply: NAD+ is the "golden molecule" for cellular repair and energy. It is found in every single cell in your body. Without it, you’d literally be dead in seconds.
Its job is twofold:
Energy Production: It helps turn the food you eat into the energy (ATP) your brain needs to think.
Cellular Defense: It activates enzymes called sirtuins, which act like a "janitorial crew" for your DNA, cleaning up damage caused by stress, toxins, and aging.
As we age, our natural levels of NAD+ naturally decline. But chronic stress is like a fast-forward button for that decline. For a professional dealing with burnout, your NAD+ levels might look more like those of someone twenty years older.
The Science of the "Reset": Can It Really Fix Your Brain?
The term "reset" is a big word, but in the context of NAD+, it’s actually rooted in some pretty cool neuroscience.
When we talk about a brain reset after chronic stress, we’re looking at neuroplasticity. This is your brain’s ability to reorganize itself and form new neural connections. Stress makes your brain "brittle." It gets stuck in loops of anxiety and exhaustion.
Research suggests that replenishing NAD+ can help:
Restore Mitochondrial Function: It recharges the batteries in your neurons so they can process information faster.
Balance Neurotransmitters: NAD+ is essential for the production of dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. These are the chemicals that govern your mood and focus. If these are low, you're "in a funk."
Reduce Neuroinflammation: Stress creates "fire" in the brain. NAD+ helps douse those flames, clearing out the brain fog that makes you feel like you’re walking through waist-deep mud.
By addressing the cellular damage stress causes, NAD+ therapy doesn't just mask the symptoms; it supports the root-cause recovery. It’s a "body-first" approach to mental health.

Why Busy High-Performers Love Subcutaneous NAD+
While you can take NAD+ precursors as supplements, they are not very effective. Note you cannot actually take NAD+ as a supplement-- your body has to make it from precursors. So while the bottle in the supplement shop may say NAD+, it is really a building block your body has to be able to effectively convert into NAD+. For already burnt out people, their body often does not do this well.
That is where NAD+ prescriptions come in. It is actually true NAD+ in its final utilizable form -- and your body can immediately use it making its efficacy much more reliable. There are some clinics that bypass this by give NAD+ as an IV treatment. However this is time consuming and expensive - you may sit in the office for an hour or more once a week.
At Solshine Wellness Group, Dr. Ravyn Ramos typically recommends NAD+ via subcutaneous injection. Typically we write the prescription for you after a brief telehealth appointment - and you pick it up at our Lynnwood clinic.
At the time of pick up, our providers demonstrate how to self administer the injections in the comfort of your own home going forward.
Why the subcutaneous route?
Easy and comfortable: It is a tiny insulin needle that goes just under the skin once or twice a week - most people do not feel a thing when they self inject.
Bypasses digestion and conversion: You’re not relying on your gut to absorb it or multiple functioning enzyme processes to convert it into a usable form- like oral precursors require.
Provides similar affects to IV treatment, without the time commitment: Cellular energy, mitochondrial support, and that “my brain is back online” feeling occur with subcutaneous injections just like IV treatments.
NAD+ is a powerful molecule. But most people do well with no side effects at all - which is why it is generally safe to take at home. Depending on dose and sensitivity, occasionally people notice temporary side effects (like brief flushing or mild nausea immediately after administration). If that happens, we simply adjust your dose or timing.
The Solshine Way: More Than Just NAD+
At Solshine Wellness Group, we don’t believe in "one-size-fits-all" biohacking. We’re a functional medicine practice, which means we want to know why your NAD+ was depleted in the first place.
Is it just the job? The kids? Or is there something else going on?
Is your gut health impacting your mood? (Check out our post on the gut-depression connection).
Are you dealing with undiagnosed ADHD that makes your work-life twice as taxing? (We have a 2025 guide to ADHD treatment if that sounds like you).
Could it be perimenopause or hormonal shifts adding fuel to the burnout fire? (See our guide on understanding perimenopause).
Dr. Ramos and our team look at the whole picture. Depending on your needs, we may pair subcutaneous (SQ) NAD+ injections with other supportive therapies—including other nutrient therapies like B12, Glutathione, and Vitamin D - depending on the deficiencies you may have.
And if longstanding depression, severe anxiety disorders, or post traumatic stress contribute to your emotional burn-out, we may also consider options like Ketamine Assisted Therapy in partnership with local psychologists and counselors to help you uncover and address additional contributing factors to your mental health and well being.

Recovery in the Emerald City (and Beyond)
We know you’re busy. That’s why we’ve structured Solshine to meet you where you are.
Our Seattle Clinic (In-Person NAD+ Option):
If you want the in-clinic experience, our Lynnwood clinic is open Thursdays and some Fridays for in-person consultations and treatments. It’s a calm, sunlit space designed to be the "anti-doctor’s office." No sterile hospital feel: just a place to breathe and heal. Typically our patients pick up their injectable prescriptions like NAD+ here so that the doctor can demonstrate proper technique in person.
Telehealth (Holistic Mental Health Support for Busy Professionals): If getting up to Lynnwood during the week is a no-go, we’ve got you. We offer telehealth for most conditions - and see adults throughout Washington and our other licensed states (AZ, IA, VA). NAD+ injection supplies can be shipped, and demonstration and supervision/training for injections can happen virtually if needed.
Is It Time for a Reset?
If you feel like you’ve been running on fumes for six months, it’s not just "part of the job." It’s a sign that your system is calling for support.
You don't have to define your worth by how much you can suffer through burnout. Healing beyond symptoms means looking at the molecules, the mind, and the lifestyle all at once. If you’re curious about whether NAD+ or another holistic approach is right for you, we’re here to help.

You aren't alone in this. Managing an overwhelming professional life and/or a busy and chaotic family unit is a marathon, not a sprint. And at Solshine we believe every athlete needs a recovery strategy.
